LESSON 7.
ADDRESSING DIVERSITY EDUCATIONAL GUIDANCE AND FORM TEACHER’. ORGANISATION OF SERVICES AND PROGRAMMES TO SUPPORT THE CENTRE.
This topic contains all the necessary information so that teachers know how to deal with cases of students with some type of disability. The attention to diversity is a fundamental resource that must be applied to these cases, since its main objectives are to make students work in a normal context, have the necessary means, develop their academic abilities and can do their best. Applying these measures, it is possible to eliminate discrimination in the class, because it is important to make students aware that we all have the same rights and opportunities.
This topic is one of the most important in my case, and I will tell you why. From the age of three in my class I have had a blind boy as a partner, so I have been able to appreciate how this disability has been treated. From the first moment the center where I was studying, San Jose de Cluny School, turned to all the needs and help for my partner. Alejandro, who is his name, has never felt any kind of rejection or marginalization, since he was one more in the class; with the same books, same exams, same jobs, same excursions, etc. The ONCE provides you with all the necessary materials in the braille system; however, as it grew and technology advanced Alejandro used a computer with a more advanced system. Just as I also had a teacher who came to class once a week in case I needed anything.
This video shows how teachers and school leaders carry out the diversity in the clasroom. In my opinion is very interesting, because as we saw before in other lessons, there are a lot of cultures, andeach with their values and traditions. However is important to treat with respect to everyone.
The most difficult in this lesson was the different laws about disability, because since 1914 the word disability has changed his meaning. Therefore, for the exam it was difficult to memorize all the laws and their explanation; in contrast I have to admit, this theme it is very interesting for me and I think everyone has to know it.
This is scheme that I did with my team in the practical class, I used it to study because the information it is very clear and structure. It shows the different laws about the development of disability, with the corresponding year.
