LESSON 9 THEORY

LESSON 9.
PARTICIPATION IN EDUCATIONAL CENTRES
The lesson night covers the current problem of participation by the educational community in schools. Currently, various conflicts arise in the school (especially between teachers and families) since all members expect more initiative from the rest. The participation by the educational group that surrounds students is essential to improve educational aspects, as well as academic performance, inclusion, attention to diversity, etc. However, the legislative aspect is closely linked to school participation, as it coordinates which members will be more or less involved. Participation must be carried out both outside and inside the school, since families have a fundamental role in the education of their children

I found a video about family participation in the school, which I found very interesting because it analyzes the role and importance of the positive relationship between the family and the school as key educational agents, whose collaborative work is essential in the educational formation of the students.
Although it is in spanish and is a bit long, I think that every future teacher should watch the video as it can bring new knowledge.

I have found it somewhat complicated to get to understand this topic perfectly. For this, it is necessary to have a lot of empathy, because two totally different (and even confronted) points of view must be kept in mind at all times: on the one hand, there is the role of teachers. I believe that the teacher only tries to perform his work satisfactorily (which is that students develop both as people and academically) and for this we must mark a distance between family and school. But on the other hand, there is the role of the family (sometimes so overprotective, that hinders the child's development). Both parties have reasonable aspects and others not so much. To end this ongoing confrontation and apply a positive participation for all, it would be convenient for school and family to agree so that both contribute their best and favor the development of the student.
